Most of the suction cup handles say "for balance only". which I read as "don't rely on me". These say "supports 300lbs". Since my husband was starting to need help getting out of the tub, I went for these, with their unabashed promise of stability and I was not disappointed! These are decent looking (white, not beige) and have incredibly strong suction. In fact, when I was just testing placement, even before I had locked the set-lever down, one of the suction cups adhered so strongly I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to get it off to reposition it!
My dad has been visiting us quite a bit these days and his balance just isn't what it used to be. I bought these for my walk-in shower to help him out with getting in and out of the shower and standing up from the shower seat I bought as well. These things are AMAZING!!!!! I have had them installed in my shower for 2 months now and haven't had to reattach them yet - they are still on the shower walls pretty strong! I have a fiberglass shower and not tile so i'm not sure how they would be in a tile shower. But I absolutely do NOT regret buying these and have even recommended them to some other people that I know where looking for good shower handles.
I bought these because I'm staying in an AirBnb that doesn't have anything to grab onto in the shower--something that has become more and more important, if not for actual safety but just piece of mind.
As far as I can see, they work just fine. For a minute, I was worried they might require permanent installation, which is not an option in my case.
They don't come with instructions, but figuring them out wasn't too difficult. Press them up against the surface and pull up the grey latches and that forms a pretty hard suction. To remove, tug on the little rubber ends of the handle and they release the suction.
I'll be carrying these in my suitcase to deal with similar travel situations.
This is for a flat smooth surface only. Cannot put it on painted walls and cannot put it in the bathroom that has a textured wall. If it’s on a smooth flat surface, it’s a good item, but if you’re expecting to use it on anything else I wouldn’t.
Works on 4” tile Arrived quickly in excellent condition it’s beautiful works perfectly. I cleaned with rubbing alcohol on a baby wiper. The wall and the suction cups. I was just getting ready to return them because my husband didn’t clean the wall first when he installed and they kept falling off. I thought it was because I have older small tile because a tiny bit of grout does show. They feel permanent now. Highly recommend
They are lightweight , but after installation they feel very strong. I use one of them to lift myself out of the bathtub and they stick great on the tile wall. I recommend these.
Great handle when you don't want to drill holes in bathroom tile. Easy to set in place. My elderly dad needed extra support in the shower. Clean and leave the tile wet when applying; this sticks very quickly. Our tile has very light texture (you can feel but not see it) and this still sticks well. Best on smooth tile, especially on a single tile if possible.
Once it did not stick well, got loose and fell. I wet the surface, and reapplied, keeping the handle on a single tile. It has been fine ever since.
Positives: you can move this around if the original spot is not best. Don't need to drill holes.
Negatives: won't work on uneven tile.
For safety, check that it is connected sturdily every week.
My wife had hip replacement surgery and we wanted some handles in the shower for her hold onto, but didn’t want to permanently mount anything on our tile walls. These suction handles were the perfect choice for us. They were easy to install, and are very sturdy. I cleaned the walls with bathroom cleaner followed by Isopropyl Alcohol, before sticking the handles in place. I was amazed how strong they are. After 3-1/2 weeks, one of the four suction cups was starting to become slightly loose. I released that lever and then pushed the lever down again, and it’s been holding well ever since. I’d highly recommend these to anyone who has smooth shower walls and wants to easily add some safety handles.
Wasn't sure if it would fit on 4" x 4" tiles but works good. the tiles shown here are 4 1/8" square including grout.
Clean the tiles well with windex or isopropanol, something that won't leave a residue, and dry off.
When removing, pull on the small tab and stick in something thin like a butter knife in to break the vacuum, if you just yank on the tab it may tear because it holds firm even after you release the lever.
These suction handles are great for getting in and out of shower and sometimes my Vertigo will interfere with tilting my head back to wash my hair. So I placed the handle higher up in my normal sized shower to hold on to when rinsing. It has helped and makes me feel safer.
Very happy with this purchase.
